The project’s objective is to improve nutrition for village members, the youth also have a pivotal role to play as they have their own section allocated to them in the garden, youth are given entrepreneurship and financial literacy training so that income generated from the garden is managed properly and also benefiting their households.
The work is still in process as the organisations have partnered with people of the village to try and upgrade the standard of the community garden as a measure to try and rescue the community from the doldrums of economic disadvantage through fencing the garden, enabling the people of the village to partake in farming projects and as well provision of food.
AfriPRIME is conducting counselling sessions with the youth in Mafanisa and other villages in Ward 4, most youth come from disadvantaged families, child headed families or are faking care of the elderly and become breadwinners making them vulnerable as it leads to more problems like school drop outs, working in mines, early marriages and teenage pregnancies.
Support groups providing a safe space for youth to vent freely have been created, Sexual Health and Reproductive health is also a core aspect as there is a rise in teenage pregnancies in the Ward, community members are also taught on how they can help to address mental health issues amongst youth and where they can get help.

Panel discussion on the issue of blessers

Kimberly Moyo (not her real name) from Zaka Jerera in Masvingo who came to Great Zimbabwe University in Masvingo in 2020 barrered her soul in an interview on her transition from being a descent girl to a sugar baby on campus.
Kimberly Moyo met sugar daddies during her first year at University through her friends. She would struggle to pay for her accommodation, food and other necessities. Peer pressure is also another thing that she talked about that she wanted to be like other students on campus.
Blessers are a new trend in society especially to the youths of today. The Slay Queen culture that is a new wave that is sweeping away the youth as they try to maintain their standards. The vulnerability of our sisters should not be preyed on by older men with an unlimited desire for sex with young women, in exchange for money and related favours.
